Zombie Cupcakes

I know I keep saying I'm going to post pictures from my birthday party and I'm sure some day I will totally get around to it.
I had to have Red Velvet Cupcakes with Cream Cheese frosting. I didn't care how. I even thought about ordering them from the Crumbs bakery in New York until I realized it what it would cost to have those bad boys shipped to California. Holy crap.
So my mom went on a red velvet mission. She had very little success. The local cake supply store told her just to add red food coloring to Devils Food cake mix. I thought she was going to have a fit. For Reals.
Anyway, she finally found some mix. I guess it's considered a seasonal holiday thing in these parts.
I found these awesome cupcake toppers on Etsy. Springmarie is delightful. Not only did she agree to make me 60 of these bad boys, but she had them done and sent out in only a day or two. I think she said she made her husband help her put them all together at which point I reminded Paul how lucky he was that he only had to occasionally hack off Barbie heads. I never make him do any REAL crafting!
So yesterday she sent me a video of the cupcake toppers that she put on youtube. Its so great I had to share. Here is the link:

My mom let Paul eat cupcakes before anyone else, because she likes him the best.

  1. Oh, that video was SWEET! I love the song, lol.

Anyway, hurry up and post the pictures!!

Last summer, my dream was to have a zombie for my 30th. I figure, "Hey, I have a whole year, it will be great." I realized at a certain point that as usual, I would have to do all the planning on my own and goddammit can't someone just for once throw me a party?? Lol. Plus, my friends are generally anti-fun and I had a feeling no one would dress up. I even bought a super-shitty 80's prom dress off Ebay last fall in preparation.

Why can't we live closer. I'm so sad about this. Your party was probably the coolest, I just know it!!

  3. Diane- everyone loves Red Velvet! Coffin shaped would have been even more delightful.

Erin- I had to plan everything myself, but it went surprisingly well. I had a lot of help from friends and family and no one stabbed each other the whole time. It was very nice. I made such a big deal about it because I never have a birthday party that I think it scared everyone into tip toeing around me like a bridezilla.
I wish we lived in the same time zone at least, it makes me a sad monkey
